The Mysterines have just dropped their latest single Stray offering an immediate glimpse into the musical landscape of their upcoming album Afraid Of Tomorrows scheduled for release on June 7th. This announcement closely follows last year's single 'Begin Again' giving an instant preview of the highly anticipated follow-up to their 2022 debut, 'Reeling.'

Vocalist and guitarist Lia Metcalfe shares insights into the creative process behind this first and new song, stating, "Whether it's guilt, paranoia, or unexplained feelings of grandiosity, 'Stray' explores these polarities. Loneliness can cast a firm grip over one's eyes, turning potential dangers into open doors that invite you in. We often find ourselves at a point of no return, led astray by our own emotions."

In a recent interview for NME, Lia sheds light on 'Afraid Of Tomorrows' (read it here) describing it as a mirror reflecting a formless being shaped by celestial constellations—a collage of traumas, old and new, mistakes, addiction, fear, happiness, loneliness, and an unwavering desire for life. She further explains, "Afraid Of Tomorrows’ holds a lot of darkness, and there’s more weight to it than ‘Reeling,’ which was driven by character and narrative. I didn’t want to be so literal this time around. There’s a lot of fear and paranoia across the record, but it takes you on a journey to the title track, which sees us trying to end things on a happier note. I just want fans to know this album has come from a very honest place."

As The Mysterines gear up for the release of 'Afraid Of Tomorrows' on June 7th, fans can anticipate an unapologetic compilation that resonates with the genuine essence of their sound. The lead single, 'Stray,' with its dynamic mix of light and darkness, exudes energy and explores the unpredictable nature of behavior during times of suffering. The accompanying music video, directed by Matilda Harding-Kemp, delves into the idea of processing trauma and features a fully choreographed dance routine.

'Afraid Of Tomorrows' is set to be released on June 7th via Fiction Records with 12 tracks. Stay tuned to experience The Mysterines' latest sonic offerings and witness their unapologetic approach, guided by Lia Metcalfe's raw and authentic vocals.
